What you should know about International Day for the Abolition of Slavery

First adopted in 1949, Monday 2 December 2019 commemorates the 70th International Day for the Abolition of Slavery.

According to the South African Government website, the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery recalls the date of the adoption, by the General Assembly, of the United Nations Convention for the Suppression of the Traffic in Persons and the Exploitation of Others (resolution 317 (IV) of 2 December 1949).
