The Plant-Based Meat Industry Could Add $3 Billion to Australia’s Economy: Report

The report shows Australia’s current plant-based meat sector brings in just under $30 million in economic value each year — and supports 265 jobs.

In the next 10 years, the report’s moderate modelling scenario anticipates the industry will be worth over $1 billion in manufacturing, nearly $3 billion in consumer expenditure, and employ more than 6,000 full-time employees. "Put simply, we’re facing a multi-billion-dollar opportunity for Australia to become a global plant-protein powerhouse." As more people learn of the negative health and environmental impacts of a meat-heavy diet, King anticipates the number of Australians eating plant-based meats will rise.
