How to Get Enough of Iron on a Plant-Based Diet: Easy Tips and 5 Things to Know

Whole plant foods are full of iron.

It’s much easier for our bodies to absorb iron when we eat an overall healthy, unprocessed diet because they tend to function better overall, including how well we absorb vitamins and minerals, such as iron.

Despite the fact that meat is high in dietary iron, it’s a perfect example of how more isn’t always better or that it’s the best option. Meat is associated with a large number of health risks ranging from diabetes to heart disease, multiple types of cancers, Alzheimer’s disease, overall inflammation, and more.
