Chanel had some ethics-related news to announce ahead of its highly-anticipated pre-fall Metiers d'Art show taking place in New York on Tuesday. (Perhaps the brand hoped to eliminate any possibility of disruption by animal rights activists?) As first reported by WWD, the French house announced on Monday that it will "no longer use exotic skins in our future creations," per an official statement.

VA: Woman's Wear Daily (WWD) reported that Chanel will no longer use exotic skins in future products, including crocodile, lizard, snake, stingray and fur. The announcement was for exotic animals, not all animals.
