In their first major action in solidarity with Extinction Rebellion, Animal Rebellion plans to mobilize thousands of animal advocates for a two-week rebellion in London, starting today, October 7, 2019.

The ultimate goal - make the world 100% vegan, where no animals are suffering and the environmental crises resolved.

"Sometimes it can feel like you're alone in the fight for animal liberation. Today as proven that is not the case. More and more people are waking up to the true horrors of the meat and dairy industry."

Dillon Fernando told Andrew Castle of LBC: "We're going to be taking to the streets, there's thousands of us, we're going to be demanding government action on the climate emergency. We're also going to be asking for a transition to a plant based food system.

"So we're going to be occupying Smithfield Meat Market overnight, we're going to be artistically transforming Smithfield to show a vision to the public of what that plant-based food system could look like.

"We're disrupting the idea that Smithfield must always be a place of death and environmental destruction. Because we know that the animal farming and fishing industries are massive contributors to the climate crisis."

Animal Rebellion is a mass volunteer movement from all walks of life that are calling for transition to a just, sustainable plant-based food system, and an end to the animal farming and fishing industries.

They recognize that a plant-based-food system is the only system that can minimize the risk of climate breakdown, halt mass extinction and avert social collapse.

The vegan, anti-speciesist group's vision is to create a world that protects beings of all species. In solidarity with animals, Animal Rebellion insists that a sustainable world should be one where individuals of all species can flourish, free from exploitation. "We can not end the Climate emergency without first declaring the animal emergency."

The rebels will be joined by Jo-Anne McArthur, a Canadian photojournalist and founder of We Animals.

"This is a historical time for animal advocacy work worldwide. From grassroots actions to changes in policy, law and science, there's so much we can do to take action and create change. My contribution as a photojournalist is to document the many faces of animals use, as well as the stories of change and progress, which is why I'm here in the UK this week with Animal Rebellion." wrote McArther.
